Theatre Tillsonburg is proud to announce our 2010 Stagecraft seminar series.
Theatre Tillsonburg opens our Stagecraft Seminar Series on April 11, 2010 (1 pm until 5 pm) with an exciting seminar for all ages. That Ol’ Song and Dance is for all actors who are interested in auditioning for musical theatre. The first half of this exciting seminar focuses on the actor that “thinks he can’t dance.” The second half focuses on vocal preparation. This fun, laid back, yet challenging, intro to theatre song and dance is for all actors who would like more confidence auditioning for musicals. Instructors: Lara Lamour and Don Funk.
We continue our seminar series with an Introduction to Lighting on May 22, 2010 (9 am until 1 pm). This seminar will cover the basics of lighting, including fixture types and applications, LED and automated lighting, and the basics of lighting a stage. Lighting safety and proper handling and operation of various fixtures will also be covered. This course is geared for beginners, not the seasoned professional. Instructor: Ken Jones

The Emperor’s New Clothes
August 14, 2010 at 1pm. “I said I’d do costumes for the play - what now?” This seminar is a primer for all costume staff or those that wish to be. What needs to be done and how best to organize a large cast with many costumes. This introduction will also discuss the basics such as the effects of lighting on costumes, a “How to” guide for period costumes and the use of color to set the mood. Create a World On The Stage (2 Sessions)
Learn how to design a set for an upcoming Theatre Tillsonburg show.
1st Session: September 11, 2010 at 1pm. The first evening of this exciting seminar will be spent learning the basic needs in any design; discussion of the specific needs from a script and director; learning the ‘how to’ aspect of design, measuring the stage, checking out the various items the theatre has that you can incorporate into the design: flats, turntables, backdrops, etc. Please bring paper, pencils, measuring tape, imagination. Instructor: Laurel Beechy
Participants will then have a month with script to use their imagination and design. Advice and assistance will be given on an individual basis at this time.
2nd Session: Oct 10, 2010 at 1pm. The seminar will continue as participants will go over the various designs and discuss their feasibility. (from session 1) The best design or a conglomerate of ideas will be ‘cleaned up’ and presented for the directors choice. Everyone will be able to participate in the execution of the design for the actual production. Instructor: Laurel Beechy
Each of these seminars are free for all Theatre Tillsonburg Members. Non-members will be charged a nominal fee of $10.00 for each seminar, payable upon arrival the day of the event.
